On the Move!!!

As the worldwide web & social networks become extremely popular, video games, iPads, cell phones ALL trump an old school games of tag, a walk in the park or a bike ride. Technology has found a way of keeping us (and our children) in house not staying physically fit as necessary. As parent, role models and community leaders is it imperative that we keep our children FIT, ACTIVE  & healthy! Outdoor games, basketball, gym, karate and dance lessons are all examples of ways to keep our children fit.

This weekend, Project P.I.N.K started with the mothers by participating in a fun & flirty workshop at the Vixen Fitness Downtown Studio. Volunteers and Project P.I.N.K supporters donated their time to mix & mingle and join us in an interesting workout session ....

At the Vixen Fitness Studio, we participated in a pole dancing workshop that was quite intriguing. Danielle Green, the owner of VF, was our instructor and did an excellent job in getting supporters comfortable! While volunteers were a bit apprehensive, the pole fitness course was quite the delight and volunteers were MORE THAN PLEASED. Danielle and VF opened our eyes to something new and we look forward to returning to Vixen Fitness really soon =)

More About Pole Fitness:

Today, pole dancing itself is considered both a sport and skill. It incorporates gymnastic, ballet, and modern dance movements around a polished pole. There are 3 main styles of pole dancing. These three styles of dance consist of exotic dance, empowerment and pole fitness.
Many women take advantage of pole dancing classes to stay physically fit, boost confidence and to increase flexibility. Many women also experience empowerment though practicing the art of pole dancing. It can provide emotional benefits like an increased feeling of self-confidence and provide an overall feeling of well being. It cane you feel stronger, taller and confident.
Pole dancing is now a recognized form of exercise that man women enjoy! It is used as an aerobic workout for both strength and toning. Participants can expect toning from head to toe and an increase muscle definition all over especially in the arms, thighs and buttocks.  For those interested, a good session can burn up to 400 calories in an hour.
By taking these classes you will not only improve your physical levels, but also your emotional state. There is evidence to suggest pole dancing and fitness can have an effect on psychological processes as well as physical ones. It is known that physical exertion has a positive effect on the sensory areas of the brain, causing it to release endorphins and serotonin. These hormones give you feelings of happiness and some feelings of euphoria.

Feeling Lazy?!! I stumbled across this ....

Today I have two tasks that I absolutely need to get done before the end of the day. They are both important. One of these is quite a mundane task; the other is something I will quite enjoy. Now if I think about it, the motivation to do the pleasant task is already there.
However, I don't feel at all motivated to take on the unpleasant work. That, I believe, is basic human nature. So it got me thinking about exactly how we can get motivated to do those less glamorous jobs like filling out your tax return or mowing the lawn or whatever it is that you know you must do, but always have difficulty starting.

Here are my 5 Top Tips for Staying Motivated ...

Get fit & stay fit. You need plenty of energy if you are to stay motivated. So try to find some time each day to fit in some aerobic exercise. This will raise your overall energy levels.

Eat properly. Make sure you take time for proper meals - especially at work. Get away from your desk at lunch time - even if it's only for half an hour. You will be more productive when you are there.
Keep your eyes on the prize. Every day, review your most important goals. See yourself as having accomplished them. See yourself receiving the prize, the award or the reward. You will gain a proper perspective on the events of the day by doing this regularly.

Get organized. Make a list of everything you need to do ahead of time. Then decide upon those top two or three priorities you need to accomplish the following day.

Now here's the kicker - do the unpleasant task on your list first! You will feel so much more motivated when you have it out of the way. Not only that, but if you keep doing this, you will wonder why those tasks gave you any kind of mental difficulty in the first place.
