On the Move .... with Me, Myself & I Teens!!!

If you have noticed Project P.I.N.K has been on the move A LOT lately. We are working diligently to spread the word out about our organization and preparing  for the launching of the interactive site. We are getting ACTIVE and getting "out". We are receiving tremendous feedback and partnering with other non-profit organizations to obtain our goal:

• Empower young women to make positive decisions
• Motivate social change
• Help young women appreciate their own experiences
• Encourage young women to become next generation leaders
• Paint positive images of success

This weekend, we had the pleasure of working with Me, Myself & Teens at their 3rd Annual Teen Girl Seminar. This was an exclusive workshop and panel discussion on teen-related topics with some of Detroit’s inspiring young women. The event included a beauty workshop, etiquette training and a special nail bar. Me, Myself and I are a non-profit 501(C) status under Soaring Eagles Alternative. MMIT believes that every girl is a beautiful flower waiting to blow beautifully both inside and out. Their mission is to maximize self development and inspiration that will lead to making better life choices in order for her to realize her full potential. They are committed to taking back responsibilities for our girl’s by helping them to choose the right path and pushing the importance of what it means to be true to you.

 The event was a true delight! We truly enjoyed the activities, speakers and panel MYSELF. It was a positive aura and an encouraging message for the young women. To be honest, it was also a self-esteem booster for me and a self-esteem booster.  We are looking forward to attend MMIT Teen Girl Seminar for years to come.

Our Confession .... featuring Mia Ray

As you may know Project P.I.N.K will offer a “Fashion Corner” on our site. The fashion area came as requested and is one of the most fascinating areas of the site. In this section, we will assist with providing latest trends, discounts and savings for young women interested. We also use this as tool to communicate different clothing styles, eg: dressing for success, business/casual attire, job interview attire and holiday wear for teens!

From my personal experience, FASHION was something I didn’t encounter until much after high school. I always LOVED bright colors, EYE shadow, pink polish, heels, skirts and leather, but MATCHING, not so much!  As an adult, I later found how exciting and stress relieving shopping could be and I LOVE IT! It grew to be my 2^nd favorite past time. From malls, online, outlet, friend’s closet and recently thrift store, I just have to SHOP… (as for most girls do). While shopping is my thing, so is BUDGETING! I found that there were ways to still shop and stay afloat with life’s needs vs. wants. For example, shopping clearance, coupon clipping, web specials and bloggers have introduced me to SUPER SAVINGS!

 

Project P.I.N.K’s ALL-TIME favorite fashion blogger and a true inspiration is Miss Mia Ray of Confessions of a Glamaholic, who we were so excited to meet formally this weekend at #EngageDetroitNOW. Mia is such a breath of fresh air and HIGH ENERGY! She is positive, focused and driven. We love everything about her! We look forward to the Glamaholics weekly postings and most recntly DAILY. Welp, PP loves you GIRL! Continue to make Munchie and us proud!

We’ll Miss You Oprah!

After 25 years of history-making, life-changing television, Oprah hosts the finale of The Oprah Winfrey Show last week and today is the 1^st Monday without Ms. Winfrey scheduled at 4:00p. We’re not sure what/who will fill the “Queen Talk” spot, but she will truly be missed!

Here’s Some Facts on the Oprah Show

·         Average number of Americans who watch her show each week: Approximately 40 million.

·         Total number of show episodes: 4,561 as of the finale on May 25.

·         Most appearance by a celeb guest: Celine Dion, with 27 appearances; Chris Rock finishes a close second with 26.

·         Total number of "favorite things": 283.

·         Number of audience members: Approximately 1.3 million over the past 25 years

·         Largest single audience for a show taping: Approximately 21,000 -- on Michigan Avenue in Chicago for last season's kick-off party. (By the way, it was a blast, except that I never ever want to hear "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas again. Those of us in the crowd were out there for hours before the taping began to practice a flash mob dance scene that opened the show to that tune, and to get us ready they played the song about a million times. I started out the day liking it, but I Gotta Horrible Feeling when I hear it now.)

·         Number of Oprah's Book Club picks: 65.

·         Amount donated to Oprah's Angel Network: More than $80 million. All the money funded charitable projects and grants around the world, including helping to establish 60 schools in 13 countries.

·         Number of emails Oprah.com receives: Approximately 25,000 a week.

·         Monday and Tuesday's shows this week were star-studded tributes to Winfrey, with blow-out celebrations (taped last week at the United Center in Chicago) featuring an amazing array of celebs, including Beyonce, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and wife Katie Holmes, Madonna, Maria Shriver, Halle Berry and many more A-listers.

·         To see that much star power in one place was a thrill, even if the audience did have to suffer through a few bars of "I Gotta Feeling." Aretha Franklin singing a powerful version of Amazing Grace, Stevie Wonder reworking Isn't She Lovely for Oprah, and Patti LaBelle and Josh Groban dueting on Over the Rainbow lessened the pain considerably.

·         Wednesday will be the last original episode of the series after 25 years, and the topic and guest remain a mystery. But bets are that the hour will be a one-on-one with the person best qualified to recap a quarter century of laughs, tears, smiles and ah-ha moments: Oprah herself.
